Music Concerts

Across Generations Music Concerts have served McGurk House and R&P at Liberty Ridge for the past 2 years. We are excited to open this opportunity to any students with musical abilities! You don't need to be a professional to join us!

"My mouth will speak words of wisdom; the meditation of my heart will give you understanding. I will turn my ear to a proverb; with the harp I will expound my riddle"

Psalm 49:3-4

Music Sends A Meaningful Message

Music is a powerful medium for emotions and memories. By stirring the hearts of others towards the goodness of Christ, our programs provide a comforting message of hope in the gospel.

Across Generations has planned, practiced, and performed six music concerts in the past two years. We serve McGurk House and Runk and Pratt at Liberty Ridge. Our volunteers contribute hours of their time each semester to make these programs flourish. We are so thankful to serve the community alongside such dedicated Christians.

The Benefits of Music

Music Is Expression

As we worship, we express our faith in God and share it with others. We share the up's and down's in life and worship God through it all.

Music Supports Memory

Music has the power to unlock memories. Studies show that memory is significantly improved in Alzheimer's patients who undergo music therapy.

Music Conveys Meaning

Music provides messages that relate to all people and is a great starting point for ministry.

An faithful, interactive experience

Music concerts are nights filled with lovely songs and fun activities. We provide refreshments, printed programs, decorations, audience shakers, and raffle prizes. These interactive concerts are funded by the generosity of Liberty University and its Student Government associated.

Did you notice?

During our concerts, our members dress in black and white formal attire. Our performers have been so kind to coordinate the proper attire for our concerts. This dress code honors our audience, conveying that the time we've spent in practice and the time we spend with them is special. Many of our friends are deeply touched by this act of respect and courteousness. We hope to continue this tradition for all future concerts.

Connor Grady

Director and Co-Founder of the Across Generations Music Program

Connor is a graduate from Liberty University with a Bachelor's in Biopsychology. He works full-time as an LUO Admissions Counselor while pursuing a Master's of Divinity and leading the Across Generations Music Concert program. At home, Connor is a devoted husband to Across Generations Founder: Marysol Grady.

Connor's passion for music collided with the mission of Across Generations to reach seniors in the local community in August 2022. Offering his talent for music and composition, Connor has helped this program flourish.

Every practice, Connor reminds us of the importance of serving seniors with a heart for Christ. Connor leads with an attitude of humility and passion for helping others. Behind the scenes, Connor spends hours arranging songs to fit the specific talents of our group. We are thankful God has given us an admirable, respectable, and competent leader and we anticipate more incredible outcomes from his efforts.

Structure

Every semester, we find new volunteers with different skills. We meet at the beginning of each semester and create song assignments. Performers are welcome to play an individual piece.

During our concerts, we explain the meaning of each song and relate our set list to an overall theme. In the past, we've done love, beauty, and rebirth.

Practices

Each practice, we work on three songs, spending 20 minutes on each one. We work together to perfect our pieces.

Concerts

Seeing our work in action has never been more fun! A lively night of music ensures everyone leaves with a smile.
