Hymn Events

Praising God with song and truth, Across Generations is blessed to provide seniors of Liberty Ridge, Willow Ridge, McGurk, and Bentley Commons with regular worship services.

"Praise him with the sounding of the trumpet, praise him with the harp and lyre,

praise him with timbrel and dancing, praise him with the strings and pipe,

praise him with the clash of cymbals, praise him with resounding cymbals."

Psalm 150:3-5

Hymns change hearts

By performing regularly at Liberty Ridge, Bentley Commons, and Leesville Road, our hymn events have provided a unique opportunity for intergenerational worship at local facilities. Music provides comfort to seniors who suffer from memory loss as well. We hope that by playing recognizable tunes in praise of God that the seniors we meet are blessed.

Pierce Knepley

Long-Time Hymn Volunteer, Founder of the Across Generations Hymn Program

Pierce Knepley is a graduate from the Bachelor's in Respiratory Therapy program at Liberty University. He plans to serve his community for the Lord through the opportunities available in Respiratory Therapy and EMS.

We met Pierce when he was volunteering on a Saturday afternoon at Liberty Ridge. We were excited to find our goals to serve seniors intersected with his, and we joined him to provide hymns for the Liberty Ridge residents. Since then, we have expanded to two other nursing facilities: Leesville Road and Bentley Commons.

Pierce leads his events and joins our music concerts with an excitement for the Lord. Each week, Pierce practices and arranges a unique set list of music. Pierce plays the piano, cello, and accordion for seniors who appreciate his incredible singing voice and outgoing nature. His passion to do all things right by God inspires everyone around him to pursue the Lord just as fervently. Pierce is an amazing leader, team player, and friend to all people---it was truly a blessing to serve with him.

Zach Fournier

New Hymns Director, Has a Love for Serving the Elderly Through Hymns

Pierce Knepley is an undergraduate studying to become a teacher with a minor in American Sign Language (ASL) at Liberty University. He plans to serve his community for the Lord through the opportunities he gets through leading hymns.

We met Zach during our interest meeting in 2024 and during one of the hymns event. We were happy to find out how much fun he was having and how much he showed up every weekend. He was eager to take the role of hymns director in the start of the Spring semester of 2025. Since then, we have expanded to two more nursing facilities: Willow Ridge and McGurk.

Zach loves to serve for the elderly with the love of God in his heart while leading. Each week, Zach arranges a unique set list of music. Zach plays the piano for seniors during these events while having a smile on his face. While leading the events, he shows that praising the Lord through music is a bunch of fun and a wonderful way to start your day. Zach is an amazing person and a wonderful person who stepped up to the challenge to lead the hymns every weekend.

Hymn Events

We typically have one leader at each hymn event. Pierce Knepley, Zach Fournier, Marysol Grady, Hailey Kalinowsky, Connor Grady, and Taylor Wright have all led seniors in worship.

We welcome anyone with musical talents to start their own hymn program at a time of their choice!

Samples

Each week, Pierce would create hymnals such as those you see below. Formatting and selecting images and songs he knows the seniors will love. All the work that goes into these programs pays off when we bring joy to the seniors and worship God together.
