In Our Volunteer Showcase Series...
We ask members to answer seven questions to show others what it's like volunteering for the elderly in the community. Today we showcase David Bryant--an original AG volunteer who has a lot to share about his experience with this club!

About David
1. What’s your name, major, and year?
David Bryant, Computer Science, Recently Graduated!
2. What programs have you volunteered for with Across Generations?
Casual Conversations mostly.
3. What’s your favorite part about volunteering with the elderly?
Getting to hear their stories and learn great lessons through them!
4. Describe one interaction you’ve had with a senior. What did you have in common? What were you surprised about?
I got the opportunity to meet Les Schofer, who was the photographer of Liberty University for almost all of its history. It was just really amazing to hear his stories and to get his perspective as someone who was there when things were first starting. He was also surprisingly good with technology too.
5. Why did you want to volunteer with Across Generations?
Because I wanted to do my CSER hours with something that would have a meaningful impact, as well as do something evangelism-related that pushed me a bit but was also not too far outside of my comfort zone.
6. What have you learned by interacting with the elderly? Has your faith been impacted in any way? Please explain.
I learned that it is surprising the amazing stories they have to tell and all the things they’ve done or seen in their lives that you would never expect. From a faith perspective, it definitely helps me see the bigger picture as to what is important and will be remembered in the long run and what will not be.
7. Is there anything else you feel is important to share?
(Left to right) David Bryant, Connor Grady, Thomas Major, and Nathaniel Graybeal learn about Liberty's history from Les Schofer's history book. Les Schofer is Liberty University's first digital photographer.
